Welcome to Durness Golf Club

If you have been on the North Coast 500, we lie right on this famous route 57 miles north west of Lairg; with the closest main airport south east of us at Inverness.
Designed by three local golf enthusiasts – Lachie Ross, Ian Morrison and Francis Keith – and opened in 1988, Durness Golf Club nestles on Scotland’s north coast and is Britain’s most north westerly golf course on the mainland. We are a 9 hole links, but with a second set of tees that provides a fine 18 hole experience, set against some of the most stunning landscape backdrops you will see in the golfing world.
EXCEEDING EXPECTATIONS
If your idea of finding a golf course involves an adventure, remoteness, turquoise ocean & sandy beaches then Durness GC could well be the golf experience you have been looking for. Recently voted in 2020 by Golf Magazine USA – in its first ever World’s Top 50 / 9 Hole Courses (12th) and in Golf World UK’s Top 100 Courses 2021 in GB and Ireland (65th) – your unforgettable golf journey can now begin.

“The northern delights started at the Durness course, where Penn giggled at an opening hole that played like the first stage of an alpine ascent, with a fairway that might have come with carabiners… the closing par 3 over ocean spray to a green shelved atop black rocks was a stunning finisher, and making two there sent us down the coast from Durness at a gallop.”

I'm trying to remember as played it over 30 years ago, is there a Loch adjacent to the course?
My youngest son Rory putting 3 new provie's into the sea!
Played it once, will always stick in my memory, 🤗
Hitting the rocks it bouncing up and landing on the green. Totally Played for! 😂😂😂
A hole in one many years ago in the winter alliance.
A cracking day in Durness ☀️🏌️♂️⛳️🤩
Making an ace whilst playing in the Men’s Open and therefore holing a shot across the Atlantic…🎯
Playing it with my brothers last fall!
The most amazing finishing hole I have ever played , rugged beauty at its finest xxx
Great experience, a round at Durness.
Peter Sinclair
First time I played my memory is sticking it on the green back into clubhouse , 50p in box ,boil the kettle for a cup of tea then right back out for another nine at this wonderful course. Played 1300 courses now and Durness still my favourite.
Course to myself and sticking it to 4ft.
RichardBillyMike Looks a tad calmer than when we played it…. 😂
Brilliant golf course with an exceptional 9th & 18th hole.
Yeah but in the style of Crocodile Dundee. "That's not a signature hole. 🙅♀️ That's a signature hole! ⛳️🏌♂️"
Brilliant hole! 😊
Making par at the 9th - 18th to shoot the first ever gross under par round at Durness in competition
James Keith my memory is I never landed on it 🤣
Pretty sure it featured in Peter Allis’s book of his 9 best holes in Britain! I’m afraid the wee bunker on the right of the green was like a magnet to me 😂

That's same day as Ross Sutherland inter county in Bonar bridge which is an unfortunate clash
🙏 A huge thank you to everyone responsible for our day out to “Old Petty” on Friday. Martin and I were accompanied on our 4 ball by Paul and Ryan and suffice to say we all thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We had a light lunch before we started and a light supper before we left so the £500 gift card was well spent !!
Now the course was fantastic and comes recommended by us all. Alas it was very windy, but we got round dry.
I was particularly keen to see the layout having met course designer Tom Doak who visited Durness on the day Bob McIntyre won the Scottish Open at the Renaissance which is Tom Doak’s other Scottish design. Yes I was impressed.
Obviously it is similar to Castle Stuart because of backdrops, terrain etc and this was discussed at length over supper. I listened intently to the opinions of my 3 companions who performed pretty well, and will definitely visit again. As for me I probably won’t but for those who know about my challenge for my 70th. year, I had only 1 ten so was delighted. 😂So thanks again all of you. ... See MoreSee Less
